Tensile Adhesion Strength Test for Tile Adhesive.

Our Services

In-situ tensile bond strength evaluation of tile adhesive applied on concrete, plaster, blockwork, and floor substrates

Tensile Adhesion Strength Test for Tile Adhesive is an in-situ method used to determine how strongly a tile adhesive bonds to its substrate. This includes adhesives used for: Ceramic tiles, Vitrified tiles, Porcelain tiles, Natural stone & granite, Large-format tiles, Wall & floor applications. A steel dolly is fixed on the adhesive–tile interface using high-strength epoxy, and a calibrated pull-off tester applies tensile load until failure. The force required to detach the adhesive represents the actual bond strength, which is essential for ensuring tile stability.

Why Strength of tile adhesive Matters.

Ensures Strong & Safe Bond Between the each lTile and Substrate

Weak adhesive bonding can lead to: Tile debonding, Hollow sound under tiles, cracking under load, Tile lifting or displacement, and water seepage under tiles. Testing ensures that the adhesive layer can safely support weight, impact, and service conditions.

Identifies Workmanship & Material Issues Before Handover

Poor adhesion often results from: Improper surface preparation, Dust, moisture, or contamination on the substrate, Incorrect mixing ratio, Inadequate notching or trowel technique, Use of low-quality adhesive, or excessive drying before tile installation. The test helps catch these issues before tiles fail, saving heavy repair costs.

Confirms Compliance With IS, EN & Manufacturer Requirements

Tile adhesive performance requirements are defined in: IS 15477 (Part 2 & 3) – Adhesives for Ceramic & Vitrified Tiles EN 12004 – Classification of Tile Adhesives (C1, C2, S1, S2, etc.). The pull-off test provides quantifiable evidence that the adhesive meets the minimum required bond strength.

Ensures Long-Term Durability & Performance of Flooring Systems

Strong adhesion prevents: Premature tile failure, Detachment due to thermal movement, Weak bonding in wet areas (bathrooms, pools, kitchens), High-risk failures in commercial & industrial floors This ensures a strong, durable, and low-maintenance tiling system.
