FRP Manhole Cover Testing
(Fibre Reinforced Plastic — BS EN 124)
Complete mechanical and material testing of fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) manhole covers — verifying load capacity, deflection, impact resistance and dimensional accuracy per BS EN 124.
What is the FRP Manhole Cover Testing?
FRP Manhole Covers are lightweight, corrosion-resistant alternatives to cast iron and concrete for utility access in roads, footpaths, airports and corrosive environments. FRP covers (glass fibre reinforced polyester) offer non-conductive, non-magnetic, anti-theft and lightweight advantages over conventional covers.
At Global Lab, FRP manhole cover testing covers the BS EN 124 load classification test (A15 to F900 classes), deflection under load, impact resistance, flexural strength of the composite material and dimensional verification — providing comprehensive acceptance data for FRP cover procurement and CE marking.

How the FRP Manhole Cover Testing is Conducted
-
1Dimensional VerificationFRP cover and frame dimensions checked against BS EN 124 and product specification.
-
2Cover Seating AssessmentCover seated in frame — rocking, play and seating adequacy assessed.
-
3Test Load ApplicationHydraulic jack applies BS EN 124 class load to cover. Deflection measured.
-
4Post-Load InspectionLoad removed. Cover inspected for permanent deformation, cracking or delamination.
-
5BS EN 124 Compliance ReportLoad, deflection and dimensional results vs BS EN 124. NABL report within 7 days.
