What is the Hydraulic Cement Testing?

Hydraulic Cement Testing verifies that cement supplied to a project meets the mandatory requirements of IS 269 (OPC), IS 1489 (PPC) or IS 455 (PSC). Physical tests include fineness, normal consistency, initial and final setting time, soundness (Le-Chatelier) and autoclave expansion. Strength tests cover 3, 7 and 28-day mortar cube compressive strength.

At Global Lab, cement testing is conducted in our NABL-accredited laboratory with calibrated Vicat apparatus, Le-Chatelier moulds, mortar cube moulds and compression testing machines. Cement quality directly governs concrete strength, durability and long-term performance — making incoming quality control testing essential for all projects.

Sample Collection & Quartering

Cement sample collected from truck/bag as per IS 3535. Sample quartered to test portions.

Fineness Testing

Blaine air permeability method (IS 4031 Part 2) and dry sieve method (IS 4031 Part 1) conducted.

Consistency, Setting Time & Soundness

Normal consistency (IS 4031 Part 4), Vicat setting time (Part 5), Le-Chatelier soundness (Part 3).

Mortar Cube Casting & Curing

Standard mortar cubes (1:3 cement:sand, w/c=0.4) cast per IS 4031 Part 6. Cured at 27±2°C.

Strength Testing & Report

Cubes tested at 3, 7 and 28 days. Results vs IS 269 minimum strength requirements. NABL report within 35 days.
