What is the Concrete Endoscopy Test?

The Concrete Endoscopy Test (also called borescope inspection) involves inserting a flexible or rigid endoscope camera into a small-diameter borehole drilled in the concrete to visually inspect the internal condition. This reveals internal defects such as voids, honeycombs, cracks, delamination, rebar condition and grout quality that are invisible from the surface.

Conducted in accordance with ACI 228 guidelines, this method is particularly valuable for post-tensioned grouted ducts, pile integrity verification, tunnel linings and walls where surface NDT cannot detect internal anomalies. Global Lab provides high-definition video recording and annotated photographic reports for every inspection.

Reveals Internal Defects
Directly visualizes voids, honeycombs, cracks and delamination not detectable from surface.
Minimal Invasiveness
Only requires a 20–25mm diameter borehole — far less invasive than core drilling.
HD Video Documentation
Full HD video recording of every inspection stored with the NABL report.
Post-Tensioned Duct Inspection
Verifies grouting completeness in PT ducts — critical for bridge and prestressed structures.
NABL Certified Reports
All inspections documented and certified on NABL-accredited letterhead.
Pile and Foundation Integrity
Checks internal concrete quality in cast-in-situ piles and drilled shafts.

How the Concrete Endoscopy Test is Conducted

  • 1
    Borehole Drilling
A 20–25mm diameter borehole is carefully drilled at predetermined inspection locations, typically to full depth of the element.
  • 2
    Hole Cleaning
The borehole is cleaned using compressed air or water flushing to remove drill dust and debris.
  • 3
    Endoscope Insertion
A rigid or flexible endoscope with built-in LED lighting and HD camera is slowly inserted into the borehole.
  • 4
    Visual Inspection & Recording
The entire borehole depth is inspected in real time. HD video is recorded continuously with depth markings.
  • 5
    Documentation & Reporting
Defect locations, depths and nature are documented with annotated screenshots. Full HD video and NABL report issued within 48 hours.
