What is the White Cement Testing?

White Portland Cement is manufactured from raw materials with low iron and manganese content, giving it a characteristic white colour with minimum 85% whiteness (reflectance). It is used for architectural concrete, terrazzo, white plaster, tile grout, precast ornamental elements and any application where aesthetics and colour uniformity are critical.

At Global Lab, white cement testing is conducted as per IS 8042 covering all standard physical tests (fineness, consistency, setting time, soundness, compressive strength) plus whiteness determination using a reflectometer. Results confirm compliance with IS 8042 grade requirements for use in architectural and decorative concrete applications.

Whiteness/Reflectance Testing
Degree of whiteness measured by reflectometer — minimum 85% per IS 8042.
Complete IS 8042 Test Suite
All physical and mechanical tests per IS 8042 — same scope as IS 269 plus whiteness.
28-Day Mortar Cube Strength
Compressive strength meets IS 8042 grade requirement at 28 days.
Setting Time & Soundness
Vicat initial/final setting time and Le-Chatelier soundness per IS 4031.
NABL Certified Reports
All results on NABL-accredited letterhead with IS 8042 compliance statement.
Colour Consistency Testing
Batch-to-batch whiteness consistency monitoring for large architectural projects.

How the White Cement Testing is Conducted

  • 1
    Sample Collection
White cement sample collected from bag or silo per IS 3535 sampling procedure.
  • 2
    Physical Tests
Fineness (Blaine), normal consistency, Vicat setting time, Le-Chatelier soundness per IS 4031.
  • 3
    Whiteness Determination
Reflectometer reading on pressed white cement disc. Whiteness = % diffuse reflectance vs MgO standard.
  • 4
    Mortar Cube Casting
Standard 1:3 cement:sand mortar cubes cast per IS 4031 Part 6. Cured at 27±2°C.
  • 5
    Strength Test & Report
28-day cube strength vs IS 8042 minimum. Whiteness vs 85% minimum. NABL report within 35 days.
