Cement Concrete Tile Testing
(IS 1237 — Cement Concrete Flooring Tiles)
Complete mechanical testing of cement concrete flooring tiles as per IS 1237 — verifying transverse strength, water absorption, abrasion resistance, dimensional accuracy and surface finish quality.
What is the Cement Concrete Tile Testing?
Cement Concrete Flooring Tiles are precast cement-based floor tiles used in residential, commercial and institutional buildings. IS 1237 specifies dimensional requirements (300×300mm, 400×400mm standard sizes), surface finish grades and minimum mechanical properties — transverse strength, water absorption and abrasion resistance.
At Global Lab, cement concrete tile testing is conducted as per IS 1237 covering transverse breaking strength (minimum 2000N), water absorption (≤10%), abrasion resistance (Böhme wheel test), dimensional tolerances (±2mm), flatness and surface finish inspection — all mandatory tests for IS 1237 grade compliance.

How the Cement Concrete Tile Testing is Conducted
-
1Sample CollectionMinimum 12 tiles selected per IS 1237 sampling from consignment.
-
2Dimensional & Flatness CheckLength, width, thickness and warpage measured on all 12 tiles.
-
3Water Absorption6 tiles tested for 24-hour cold water absorption per IS 1237.
-
4Transverse Breaking Strength6 tiles tested in three-point bending at 100mm support span per IS 1237.
-
5Abrasion & Report3 tiles tested for abrasion resistance per IS 1237 Appendix. NABL report within 28 days.
