What is the Ready Mix Plaster Testing?

Ready Mix Plaster is a factory-produced dry mortar mix combining cement, fine aggregate, additives and sometimes lime — requiring only water addition on site. Factory production ensures consistent properties — unlike site-mixed plasters where aggregate grading, cement content and water-cement ratio vary batch to batch.

At Global Lab, ready mix plaster testing is conducted as per BS EN 998-1 covering compressive strength (CS category), water absorption (W category), adhesion bond strength, fresh mortar consistency, water retention, fire reaction and crack pattern — providing complete product characterisation for CE marking and ETICS system certification.

BS EN 998-1 Classification
CS category (CS I to CS IV) assigned from 28-day compressive strength.
Adhesion Bond Strength
Tensile bond to concrete, brick and blockwork substrates per BS EN 1015-12.
Water Absorption Category
W category (W0/W1/W2) determines suitability for external render use.
Crack Resistance
Accelerated drying test assesses cracking tendency of ready mix plaster.
NABL Certified Reports
All results on NABL-accredited letterhead per BS EN 998-1.
ETICS System Certification
Ready mix plaster characterisation for external thermal insulation composite systems.

How the Ready Mix Plaster Testing is Conducted

  • 1
    Sample Preparation
Ready mix plaster mixed at manufacturer's specified water/powder ratio.
  • 2
    Fresh Mortar Tests
Consistency (flow table), bulk density, air content, water retention tested.
  • 3
    Specimen Casting
Prisms and slabs cast for strength, bond and water absorption testing.
  • 4
    Strength & Bond Tests
28-day compressive strength (CS class), adhesion bond strength (BS EN 1015-12).
  • 5
BS EN 998-1 Classification & Report
CS class and W category assigned. NABL report within 28 days.
