What is the Welded Steel Reinforcement Bar Testing?

Welded Steel Reinforcement includes welded wire fabric (mesh) and individual bars with welded lap or T-joint connections. IS 1566 specifies both the mechanical properties of the base wire and the shear strength of the welded intersections — critical because weld failure at intersections is the primary failure mode in welded mesh.

At Global Lab, welded steel reinforcement testing per IS 1566 covers base wire tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, weld shear strength at intersections (minimum 0.3× wire cross-sectional area × UTS), mesh opening dimensions and wire spacing — confirming compliance for structural concrete floor slabs, precast elements and industrial floors.

Weld Shear Strength
IS 1566 minimum weld shear = 0.3 × wire area × UTS — primary quality test.
Base Wire Tensile Properties
UTS, yield and elongation of individual wire per IS 1566.
Mesh Dimension Verification
Wire spacing and mesh opening size checked against IS 1566 Table 1.
All Mesh Types
Square, rectangular and long-mesh welded fabric all tested.
NABL Certified Reports
All results on NABL-accredited letterhead per IS 1566.
Precast & In-Situ Use
Results suitable for both precast factory QC and in-situ mesh acceptance.

How the Welded Steel Reinforcement Bar Testing is Conducted
