Marble Tile Testing
(IS 1130 — Marble, Granite & Natural Stone)
Complete mechanical testing of marble, granite and natural stone tiles as per IS 1130 — verifying compressive strength, modulus of rupture, water absorption, abrasion hardness and dimensional accuracy.
What is the Marble Tile Testing?
Marble, Granite and Natural Stone Tiles are premium flooring and cladding materials whose performance depends on the inherent properties of the stone — density, compressive strength, modulus of rupture, abrasion resistance and water absorption. IS 1130 specifies test methods and minimum requirements for marble used in building construction.
At Global Lab, marble and stone tile testing is conducted as per IS 1130 and IS 3622 covering compressive strength, modulus of rupture (transverse strength), water absorption, abrasion hardness (Mohs scale and Böhme wheel), apparent specific gravity and dimensional tolerances — applicable to marble, granite, sandstone, slate and other natural stone products.

How the Marble Tile Testing is Conducted
-
1Sample CollectionMinimum 6 stone tile samples collected per IS 1130 procedure.
-
2Dimensional MeasurementLength, width, thickness and flatness measured. Tolerances checked.
-
3Water Absorption & DensityTiles oven dried, weighed dry and immersed 24 hours. Absorption and density calculated.
-
4Modulus of RuptureThree-point bending test on stone tile. MOR = 3WL/2bt².
-
5Abrasion & ReportBöhme wheel abrasion test. Compressive strength on prepared specimens. NABL report within 14 days.
