What is the Stainless Steel Reinforcement Bar Testing?

Stainless Steel Reinforcement Bars provide inherent corrosion resistance without coatings — used in marine bridges, coastal structures, chemical plants and tunnels where conventional steel would suffer rapid chloride-induced corrosion. Grades 1.4301 (304) and 1.4401 (316) are commonly specified in structural concrete.

At Global Lab, stainless steel rebar testing per IS 16651 and ASTM A955 covers 0.2% proof stress (yield strength), ultimate tensile strength, percentage elongation at break, bend test and rebend test — confirming mechanical compliance for structural design per IS 456 for stainless steel reinforced concrete.

IS 16651 Compliance
All mandatory mechanical tests per IS 16651 for stainless steel rebar.
0.2% Proof Stress
Yield strength from stress-strain curve 0.2% offset method.
Bend & Rebend Test
Ductility verified by 90° bend and rebend without cracking.
Full Stress-Strain Curve
Complete load-extension diagram plotted for each test specimen.
NABL Certified Reports
All results on NABL-accredited letterhead per IS 16651.
Grade Verification
304 vs 316 grade mechanical property confirmation.

How the Stainless Steel Reinforcement Bar Testing is Conducted

  • 1
    Sample Preparation
Stainless steel rebar cut to gauge length per IS 1608. Surface cleaned of mill scale.
  • 2
    Tensile Test Setup
Sample gripped in NABL-calibrated UTM. Extensometer attached for accurate strain.
  • 3
    Tensile Test
Load applied at standard rate. 0.2% proof stress, UTS and elongation recorded.
  • 4
    Bend & Rebend Test
Bend at specified mandrel diameter per IS 16651. Rebend test per IS 16651.
  • 5
    IS 16651 Compliance Report
All results vs IS 16651 grade requirements. NABL certificate issued within 3 days.
