Structural Tilt Monitoring
(Inclinometer & Tiltmeter Monitoring)
Continuous real-time monitoring of structural tilt and inclination in towers, chimneys, retaining walls and foundations — detecting progressive settlement, rotation and instability before visible distress occurs.
What is the Structural Tilt Monitoring?
The Structural Tilt Monitoring service uses high-precision tiltmeters and inclinometers installed on structural elements to continuously measure angular rotation and inclination. Tilt monitoring provides early warning of progressive settlement, foundation movement, wall rotation and structural instability — often before any visible cracking appears.
At Global Lab, tilt monitoring is conducted using MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) tiltmeters with resolution of 0.001° and range of ±30°, wirelessly transmitting to cloud loggers. Critical thresholds are set per IS 1904 allowable tilt limits, with automatic alerts when limits are approached.

How the Structural Tilt Monitoring is Conducted
-
1Tiltmeter Location SelectionTiltmeters positioned at top, mid-height and base of structure to capture rotation profile.
-
2Sensor InstallationMEMS tiltmeters bolted or epoxy-bonded to cleaned structural surface.
-
3Wireless Logger SetupData logger configured with sampling interval and threshold alert values.
-
4Baseline ReadingInitial tilt readings taken — zero datum established before construction or loading.
