What is the Epoxy Bonding Agent Testing?

Epoxy Bonding Agents are two-component (resin + hardener) epoxy systems applied to concrete substrates before repair mortar or overlay application. They provide a strong chemical bond between new repair material and the existing concrete substrate — critical for structural repair systems specified per EN 1504.

At Global Lab, epoxy bonding agent testing is conducted as per BS EN 12188 covering compressive strength, tensile strength, bond strength to concrete (pull-off), open time (pot life), coefficient of thermal expansion and modulus of elasticity — confirming compliance with EN 1504-4 structural bonding requirements.

Bond Strength to Concrete
Pull-off adhesion on sandblasted concrete substrate per BS EN 1542.
Compressive & Tensile Strength
Neat epoxy mechanical properties per BS EN 12188.
Open Time Verification
Pot life and open time tested for site workability compliance.
EN 1504-4 Compliance
Results checked against EN 1504-4 structural bonding minimum requirements.
NABL Certified Reports
All results on NABL-accredited letterhead per BS EN 12188.
Temperature Range Testing
Bond strength at elevated temperature for tropical site conditions.

How the Epoxy Bonding Agent Testing is Conducted

  • 1
    Component Mixing
Resin and hardener mixed at manufacturer's specified ratio. Pot life timed.
  • 2
    Substrate Preparation
Concrete substrate sandblasted, cleaned and dried per EN 1504-10.
  • 3
    Epoxy Application
Bonding agent applied at specified spread rate. Open time window monitored.
  • 4
    Bond Strength Test
Pull-off adhesion test after curing per BS EN 1542. Failure mode recorded.
  • 5
    Mechanical Tests & Report
Compressive and tensile strength per BS EN 12188. EN 1504-4 compliance. NABL report within 14 days.
