GGBS Testing
(Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag — IS 16714)
Complete physical and chemical testing of Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) for concrete and cement applications — verifying Blaine fineness, glass content, activity index, soundness and chemical composition.
What is the GGBS Testing?
Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) is a by-product of iron manufacture — quenched molten blast furnace slag ground to cement fineness. GGBS has latent hydraulic properties activated by Portland cement alkalis. Used at 30–70% cement replacement, GGBS reduces heat of hydration, improves long-term strength and dramatically reduces chloride permeability.
At Global Lab, GGBS testing is conducted as per IS 16714 and BS EN 15167 covering Blaine fineness (≥400 m²/kg), glass content (≥85%), activity index at 7 and 28 days, soundness (autoclave expansion), moisture and chemical analysis (CaO, SiO₂, Al₂O₃, MgO, S, Cl) — standard grade GGBS vs Ultrafine GGBS (UGGBS ≥600 m²/kg).
