What is Door Shutter Testing?
Wooden flush door shutters (solid core type) are governed by IS 2202 (Part 1):2023 — the current revision replacing the long-serving 1999 edition — and testing has real regulatory teeth: the Plywood and Wooden Flush Door Shutters (Quality Control) Order, 2024 makes BIS conformity mandatory for manufacturers on a phased schedule. The specification fixes requirements for materials, dimensions, workmanship and performance, verified through the IS 4020 (Parts 1–16):1998 method series.

Sampling & Identification
Shutters are sampled per IS 2202 rules, identified by type, size and declared construction, and conditioned as required. - 2
Dimensions, Squareness & Flatness
Overall dimensions, squareness, general flatness and local planeness are measured per IS 4020 methods against specification tolerances. - 3
Slamming Test
The shutter is subjected to the specified number of slam cycles and examined for damage, loosening or deformation. - 4
End Immersion Test
A shutter end is immersed in water per IS 4020 and examined for delamination — proving bond quality at the most vulnerable zone. - 5
Knife & Glue Adhesion Tests
Face veneer adhesion is verified by knife test and glue adhesion in the prescribed manner, confirming bonding integrity. - 6
Type Tests (Where Required)
Impact indentation, shock resistance, edge loading, buckling and misuse tests are performed for certification or dispute purposes. - 7
Reporting
Per-test results with an IS 2202 (Part 1):2023 compliance verdict are issued via Autovity QLMS.
