What is Cylindrical Mould Calibration?
Cylinder strength results are only as good as the mould that cast them: an out-of-round or under-height mould biases every specimen it produces. IS 10086:1982 (Specification for Moulds for Use in Tests of Cement and Concrete) fixes the internal dimensions, tolerances, planeness and rigidity requirements for cylindrical moulds used in compressive and split-tensile testing.
Global Lab calibrates moulds with traceable internal micrometers, depth gauges and straightedges — verifying internal diameter at multiple orientations and heights, overall height, base-plate planeness and wall thickness — and certifies each mould against the IS 10086 tolerance band with as-found readings.

Identification & Condition Check
Mould ID, size class and physical condition (dents, weld cracks, seized clamps) are recorded before measurement. - 2
Internal Diameter Measurement
Diameter is measured with a traceable internal micrometer at multiple heights and orientations to capture ovality. - 3
Height & Planeness
Height is gauged at several positions; base-plate planeness is checked with straightedge and feeler gauges. - 4
Tolerance Evaluation
All readings are evaluated against the IS 10086 tolerance band for the mould class. - 5
